The Placement Catastrophe

The most challenging project I had taken up in IMG was that of the development of the placement and internship portal of the college. Although the basic development finished roughly a year ago, we have been doing tons of changes ever since. Since Sandeep was the in charge of the proceedings related to placement last year, I had literally been shielded from the queries. Unfortunately, this time, I had to take over and for the last two days, I have had a really bad time.

You will be remembered

At IMG, we have a tradition of kicking out the seniors in style. In addition to the costumes, we give away a scrapbook, a common gift and a personal gift. The Scrapbook contains scraps from each and every member of IMG sharing their thoughts. I prefer writing one liners in those little chits, and it's not that I don't have anything to say, but because that little space would literally explode if I try to even think of putting my memories! Here is my version of the scrapbook.

Lo, here cometh the reformer

^The title stinks actually! Anyways, let's continue...

It's just one more semester until I reach the fourth year, and into an administrative position in IMG, with a fancy named post! For those who have no idea what IMG is, read this.

The Volkswagen Ride

During the time of convocation, all the hotels are booked in R-Land. On the night of 3rd August, 2012, it was no exception. As the plan had been made just a day before the chapo, IMG could get a hotel only as near as All Seasons, which is four kilometers from the campus. That doesn't seem much in a metro like Delhi, but hello, this was Roorkee! Go outside the cantonment area and you get nothing but a highway.

Hypertext Preprocessor-ed by Rasmus Lerdorf

College fests do not excite me. Not the (late) Thomso. Not Cognizance either. In fact, last year, I missed the Thomso, and left on the second day of Cogni (and a week of classes thereafter), just to attend the 20th wedding anniversary of my parents. Now, I was attending the first technical fest of the college properly in my fourth semester. Little did I know that it would turn out to be quite an experience.

Online Exams: Behind the Scenes

After a quiet Diwali at IIT-R, where just about a fifth of the students stayed behind, it was time to go back to work at IMG, but there was a minor difference this time: this was a finishing touch to something I had been working on for over a semester. After a few hassles (when most of my seniors were home), I could finally do it right: the launch of my first application for the intranet, Online Exams.

Third semester kick starts...

It has been exactly a week since I came back from home, and the developments that have taken place in this short period of time are quite significant... In fact, I have had quite a hard time...
Things that I have learnt last week:

Watch Out- Enter the World of Web Design!

I had completed just 20 odd days in Roorkee when Watch Out came recruiting... WONA, being the official news magazine of IIT-R, I was more interested in getting into Editorial (News, Design, Finance and Web Design being the rest). As you may know, I was 'incapable' of getting in design (to be true, I am not that creative!) or finance (I know only how to save for myself :P), my preference order was Ed, followed by news and web design. The only reason I put web design was that I knew a bit of HTML! After a brainstorming session(precisely what is termed the second round interview), I never expected that I'd get into WONA. However, that night, I got a call from an unknown number...

My Second Home

Had I got one more correct answer  in JEE or avoided a mistake, I’d have been pursuing my  B. Tech in IIT Gandhinagar (chances are, I’d have chosen it over IIT Guwahati as well; that is because although I’m from Guwahati my father had been working in Gujarat back then). Almost a year ahead, I feel that decision would have been a blunder, and ironically, I’d never have realised it. Firstly, my father has just moved to Abu Dhabi. Secondly there’s no IMG in Gandhinagar (or any other IIT for that matter).
